THE ROLE

The Recreation and Inclusion Coordinator plays a pivotal role in creating safe,
welcoming, and adaptive recreation programs and services for individuals and families
within the military community. You will champion inclusion and accessibility across
recreation, ensuring that people with disabilities and support needs can meaningfully
engage in programming, events and community life.
You will lead the planning, development, and evaluation of inclusion focused programs
and services, and develop individualized plans for participants with disabilities and
support needs. You will research, design and deliver comprehensive training for
employees and provide expertise and support in implementing behaviour management
protocols.
You will establish clear, consistent, and proactive communication with participant
families and caregivers. You will build strong partnerships with interdepartmental teams,
community organizations, service providers, and schools to guarantee that programs,
services, and facilities align with current best practice standards.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses
College diploma or certificate in Child and Youth Care, Autism and Behavioural
Science, Therapeutic Recreation, Educational Support or a related field AND several
years of experience in recreation administration, special education, disability support
services, or a related field
AND
Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification
HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) Certification
HIGH FIVE Quest 2, an asset
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training, an asset
Behavior Management Systems certification, an asset
Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)/Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) Therapy
training, an asset.

Experience
In planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the operations of
recreation/inclusion support programs
In applying policies, procedures, regulations and applicable legislation
In personnel administration
In budget administration
In conducting and evaluating client assessments
In preparing and conducting analysis, research, presentations and reports
In designing and delivering training sessions and programs
In developing and implementing inclusive and adaptive programming
In crisis intervention and behaviour management techniques
In communicating with families, caregivers, educators, service providers and other
community organizations.

Competencies

leadership.

This is an on-site position with an assigned work location.
This position may be required to work evenings and weekends.
Perform moderate lifting, carrying, pulling, and/or pushing (i.e. more than 22 lbs/10 kg
but less than 50 lbs/23 kg)
