THE ROLE

As a member of an interdisciplinary Human Performance team, the Performance Dietitian Specialist will plan, deliver, and evaluate performance nutrition services tailored to meet the current and evolving needs of CANSOFCOM Unit members. They will oversee and provide performance nutrition support to both healthy and injured personnel, grounded in evidence-based, peer‑reviewed research.

The Performance Dietitian Specialist will counsel and collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders to optimize military feeding strategies, nutritional enhancements, and the appropriate use of dietary supplements. They will assess, analyze, and report on dietary practices, body composition, hydration status, biomarker profiles, and energy balance (intake and expenditure) within the context of both performance and health. Through individual consultations, meal planning, and group education, they will guide and support CANSOFCOM Unit members in achieving and maintaining body mass, body fat, biomarker status, and muscle mass levels consistent with optimal health and high performance.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Nutritional Science, Sports Nutrition, Applied Human Nutrition or a related field AND several years of experience in a related field

AND

Registered with the Ontario College of Dietitians or with a provincial regulatory organization and a member of Dietitians of Canada

Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD), an asset

Precision Nutrition Level 1 and 2 Certifications, an asset

NCSA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) Certification, an asset

International Olympic Committee (IOC), Diploma in Sport Nutrition, an asset

Experience

In working with elite athletes in a high performance environment

In planning, delivering and performing ongoing evaluation of performance nutrition/sport specific demands based services and programs

In addressing client non-evidence based nutrition beliefs/attitudes

In evaluating effectiveness of performance nutrition services

In assessing the impact of nutrition on performance and injury prevention

In planning and delivering training courses, workshops, presentations and specialized clinics

In performance nutrition coaching, education, training and meal planning

In facilitation techniques and strategies

In adult education principles and techniques

In managing projects

In risk management

In communication and marketing

In budget administration

In applying policies, procedures, and regulations

Competencies

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

English Essential or French Essential. Bilingual (English and French) an asset

Reading: Advanced

Writing: Functional
