THE ROLE

The National Manager, Sport Programs is responsible for shaping and executing Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) sport strategies and outreach initiatives in alignment with organizational objectives. Acting as the program’s lead, this role provides leadership, technical guidance, and strategic oversight to ensure the effective delivery of sport across the CAF.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement CAF sport program strategies and outreach initiatives that support organizational goals and priorities.
  • Program Oversight: Lead, plan, and manage national sport programs, outreach operations, activities, events, and business plans to ensure alignment with CAF and organizational strategies.
  • Research & Performance Measurement: Oversee research, data collection methods, analysis, and performance evaluation for sport programs. Provide evidence-based recommendations and solutions to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain collaborative relationships with external partners and organizations to ensure standards, programming, and research proposals align with CAF and organizational objectives.
  • Expert Advisory: Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries, offering technical expertise and guidance on sport program delivery and outreach.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

Bachelor’s degree in Sport Administration, Physical Education, Human Kinetics or a related discipline AND several years of experience of program management

Experience

In researching, developing, implementing and analyzing policies and procedures

In planning, coordinating and managing research and development of sports and outreach standards and/or programs

In developing and implementing strategic and operational plans

In planning sporting events

In project and program management

In providing advice and guidance

In managing and negotiating service contracts

In financial and budget administration

In leading and managing employees

In risk management

Competencies

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Bilingual (English and French) Essential

Reading: Advanced

OTHER INFORMATION

This is a hybrid position with an assigned work location allowing the employee to work partly from a corporate office and partly from a home office in accordance with the CFMWS Flexible Work Options Policy, and with approval from the direct manager.
