THE ROLEUnder the supervision of the Facility Coordinator the Fitness and Sports Equipment Maintenance Technician repairs or replaces defective or worn-out parts and components on fitness and sports equipment using hand, power or specially designed tools. They perform checks and maintenance on fitness and sports equipment. They operate equipment, as required. The Fitness and Sports Equipment Maintenance Technician tests fitness equipment and adjusts repaired fitness equipment. They inspect equipment and facilities for safety and takes corrective action, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDEDEducation, Certifications and Licenses
High school diploma AND some years’ experience in a related field.
OR
An acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience will also be considered.
AND
A valid driver’s license (Manitoba)
Knowledge
Of fitness and sports facilities
Of the maintenance requirements to indoor/outdoor sports facilities/equipment
Of assembling, installing, and inspecting physical fitness training equipment
Of health and safety practices
Experience
In assembly of fitness equipment
In safety inspections of fitness equipment
In cleaning and preventative maintenance of fitness equipment
In repair of major physical fitness training equipment
In applying policies, procedures, and relevant legislation
Competencies
