THE ROLE

The Accounting Information Systems (AIS) Specialist provides front-line operational, technical and functional support for corporate accounting systems and reporting tools, including Oracle E‑Business Suite and Oracle Business Intelligence. The role is accountable for investigating, analyzing, and resolving system and data‑related issues reported by accounting users, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuity of financial operations.

The AIS Specialist reviews financial data entry, system outputs, and user workflows to identify inaccuracies, procedural gaps, or system issues. In doing so, they apply accounting policies, user documentation, technical references, and established procedures to determine appropriate corrective actions or escalation paths required to achieve timely and effective resolution.

The AIS Specialist supports the ongoing maintenance and reliability of accounting systems by managing user access and security profiles, monitoring system availability, maintaining configurations and daily production routines, and assisting with software updates, configurations, tests, and validations. They participate in system upgrades and perform tests to confirm that system changes function as intended prior to deployment into production environment.

In addition, the AIS Specialist contributes to internal and external audit activities by supporting system reviews, maintaining security documentation, and ensuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

The role also assists in the development and delivery of user training, prepares and updates user manuals, standard operating procedures, and operational documentation, and provides quality assurance support for accounting system training initiatives, working collaboratively with team members and external consultants.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

College diploma or certificate in Accounting, Business Administration or a related discipline AND several years of experience in accounting systems support or a related field

Experience

In a technical customer support or service desk environment

In investigating and resolving data issues, system errors, access/security problems, and process failures, and determining appropriate remediation or escalation paths.

In supporting system changes and upgrades, including performing user acceptance testing (UAT) prior to production release.

In preparing and maintaining technical documentation, user guides, and standard operating procedures.

In delivering system‑related training

Competencies, Skills and Abilities

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple support requests effectively in a fast‑paced support environment.

Strong technical troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Client‑focused mindset with emphasis on timely, high‑quality issue resolution.

Ability to bridge technical system behavior and accounting/business processes.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including clear documentation of issues and resolutions.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Strong organizational skills and adaptability to changing priorities.

OTHER INFORMATION

This is a hybrid position with an assigned work location allowing the employee to work partly from a corporate office and partly from a home office in accordance with the CFMWS Flexible Work Options Policy, and with approval from the direct manager.
