The position of Receiver/Crib Keeper involves operating the forklift, the overhead cranes, hand tools and manual material handling. We are a specialized weld shop dealing with high grade material looking for someone to join our team and help drive growth.

About the Position:

The Receiver/Crib Keeper is responsible for tracking inventory levels, handling all aspects of receiving, and keeping accurate records. Job requirements involve packaging items, labelling parts, and weighing parts. They are responsible for comparing bills of lading against actual goods received, inspecting for damaged goods and once verified/approved, distributing merchandise to inventory or crib. This will ensure we achieve the most efficient production schedules as possible.

Hours of Work:
Day Shift: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Monday - Thursday) 40 Hours Per Week

What will you be doing:

  • Receive information from the Production Control Manager or Supervisor on what must be completed for that day.
  • Responsible for all receiving of goods - checks and signs delivery slips and assists with unloading as necessary.
  • Advises supervisor/purchasing of any short shipments, missing components, damaged goods or missing packing slips.
  • Inspects and verifies incoming goods against invoices or other documents, records shortages and rejects damaged goods.
  • Accepts or returns merchandise according to established company procedures.
  • Organizes distribution and shipping of merchandise. Makes necessary verifications against documents, unpacks and routes goods to appropriate storage areas. Handles customer pick-ups.
  • Operate forklift, Overhead Crane, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods.
  • Maintains internal record-keeping systems.
  • Contacts resource people for various information.
  • Assembles containers and crates, packs goods to be shipped and prepares identifying information and shipping instructions.
  • Knows safe storage and handling procedures for various chemicals and materials, knows proper shipping procedures for transportation of dangerous goods.
  • Responsible for the organization of materials within the crib by project, labelling goods by project, and issuing goods by project, creating systems for goods tracking as assigned to the production team
  • Takes inventory, maintains storage area (crib), organizes and places stock on shelves.
  • Ensures crib area is always locked/secure.
  • Only distribute parts specific to an assigned job # unless otherwise directed by their Supervisor
  • Responsible for the tidiness of your designated area (ensuring no product left on the shop floor) and putting everything away into racks or Stores.
  • Note any problems to the Supervisor that will affect the safety of other employees, the production due dates or the quality of every manufactured product.
  • File purchase requisitions.
  • Perform any other tasks required to better the company.
  • Use of table saws, skill saws, nail guns, overhead cranes and other hand tools as per company policy.
  • Complete daily timesheet.
  • Follow Cambridge Pro Fab’s rules and regulations, including health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Abide by the OHSA and other federal and provincial regulations.
  • Wear approved personal protective equipment (PPE) such as eye protection and foot protection.
  • Maintaining the required level of quality.
  • Work and assist other employees in continuously improving safety and production demands and quality.
  • Occasional use of overhead cranes, forklift, ladders and other equipment as per company procedures (the use of equipment is prohibited unless proper (approved) training is received and the training is evaluated and documented).
