About the Position:

The role of an Intermediate Detailer is to provide structural design and detailing to complete fabrication drawings for the structural drafting/ drafting for the gas turbine and environmental industry.

Hours of Work: 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Monday - Thursday) 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM (Friday) Total of 40 Hours Per Week

What will you be doing:

  • Use AutoCAD/Solid Works/ Stru-CAD to prepare accurate models and detailed shop drawings.
  • Check, review and organize drawing packaged to meet detailing standards.
  • Verify the accuracy of drawings and documents (ie. Review drawings vs. specifications, standards, etc.) and revise as necessary.
  • Requisition material.
  • Issue drawings to the shop for fabrication in accordance with production schedule.
  • Prepare work orders and bills of material
  • Finish work within project timelines and budget hours.
  • Promptly communicate all issues and changes that could impact the project schedule or scope to the Project Manager.
  • Check the work of other detailers as required.
  • Creation of various documents as required.
  • Adhere to drafting standards, software, processes, polices and procedures, while adapting them to varied conditions required by customers.
  • Travelling to other CPF shops, jobsites, customers, suppliers and/or contractors/sub-contractors as required.

Requested skills

  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience as a detailer.
  • Knowledge in basic drafting standards and principles.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication skills and a clear understanding of the English language in both Oral and Written form.
  • The ability to pay close attention to detail, precision, and accuracy.
  • Experience in the drafting field is an asset.
  • The ability to apply basic math skills including trigonometry.
  • Must have a good understanding of both 2D and 3D CAD.
  • Able to safely perform duties with a minimum amount of supervision.
  • Formal Technical Institute and/or University training is an asset but not a requirement.
  • Must have proficient knowledge in computers and relevant software applications.
  • Must have proficient knowledge in customer service practices and principles.
  • Computer skills including the ability to use spreadsheet and word processing programs at a highly proficient level.Understanding metric and imperial measurements.
  • Decision making skills.
  • Proven time management.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Demonstrate initiative and is a proactive problem solver.
  • Be proactive and accountable for deadlines and job requirements.
