Mechanical Conceptor Prototypist

We are looking for a Mechanical Prototype Designer to report to the Head of Biomechanics and Product Ergonomics in the Design & Innovation Department to assist the team with various tasks such as: ergonomic and mechanical CAD layouts, 3D scanning of models, rapid prototyping, supervision and manufacture of full-scale prototype models for static validation.

YOU’LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Design static validation prototypes (CAD and physical);

  • Structure the CAD database (nomenclature, information organization, structure, etc.) according to ergonomic criteria;

  • Produce physical models using various materials (metals, woodwork, clay and thermoplastic modeling, 3D printing, , etc.) according to requirements and the level of ergonomic validation required;

  • Be able to use or design ergonomic measurement systems, including reference systems for aligning multiple mechanical and human systems;

  • Help design guidelines in coordination with ergonomic professionals;

  • Participate in data collection using various technical and scientific tools, and process this data. Compile and structure this information in a database and in the form of reports;

  • Be active in creativity sessions with the Product Ergonomics, Design, and Engineering teams, as well as with designers and developers, in order to better meet the ergonomic needs of customers in relation to our many products in development.

YOU’LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

  • College or University technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering, CAD, Industrial Design, or equivalent;
  • Experience in designing simple to complex assemblies of recreational vehicle components, sports products, or consumer products for the purpose of manufacturing prototypes for ergonomic validation;
  • Skills related to the construction of CAD surfaces and mechanical modules to express certain ergonomic parameters;
  • Sensitivity to shapes and details, in addition to highly developed spatial perception and the ability to interpret and shape the intentions of ergonomics specialists and designers;
  • Communicate in French and English to collaborate with teams outside Quebec;
