Apparel and Protective Gear Manager - Product Design and Development

We are looking for an Apparel Product Design and Development Manager who will report to the Director of Apparel, Protective Gear and Licensing, and who’ll be tasked with creating and safe-guarding the visual design language of our seasonal product portfolios. As part of your role, you’ll be leading and inspiring a team of designers/developers of technical and protective riding gear and sportswear for Ski-Doo, Sea-Doo, and Can-Am!

YOU’LL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Team Leadership: Lead a team of apparel designers and developers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to foster creativity, collaboration, and professional growth. Develop and ensure adherence to seasonal creative direction.
  • Visual Brand Leader for Apparel and Protective Gear: Develop and execute a strategic creative vision for the apparel design and development team, aligning with company goals, market trends, and customer preferences. Serve as a brand ambassador and create visual identity for apparel for BRP and brands that embody the values and ethos of the power sports riding community in all aspects of apparel design and development.
  • Product Innovation and Research: Drive the development of innovative riding gear designs and features that enhance performance, comfort, and safety for power sports enthusiasts. Continuous research of industry trends, competitor offerings, and customer feedback to inform product development decisions and identify opportunities for innovation. Deep understanding of technical fabrics, garment construction, and manufacturing processes related to outdoor apparel.
  • Product Quality Development and Assurance: Responsible for apparel products to meet strict quality standards and regulatory requirements, conducting thorough testing and evaluation or certification throughout the development process. Build and maintain relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers to source materials. Knowledge of regulatory standards and safety requirements for apparel products in the power sports industry.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments, including marketing, sales, sourcing, fit and spec, and production to coordinate product creation, GTM launches, promotions, and merchandising efforts.
  • Departmental budget: Responsible for the creation, maintenance and accountability of the team’s annual budget.

YOU’LL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

  • A Bachelor or Master’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Merchandising, or a related field. At least 5 years of experience in apparel design and development, with a focus on power sports riding gear preferred.
  • A proven track record of leadership and team management, with excellent communication, inspiring creative coaching, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong creative vision and design sensibility, with the ability to translate market trends and consumer insights into compelling product concepts.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CLO3D programs.
  • Passion and curiosity for power sports and an understanding of the unique culture, lifestyle, and preferences of riders.
  • Location: This position is based at our BRP apparel headquarters in Sherbrooke, Quebec with occasional travel required for industry events, vendor meetings, and product development trips.
