Machining and tooling inspectors check machined parts and tooling to ensure quality standards are maintained.
Tasks and duties
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints;
- calculate dimensions and tolerances, measure and arrange components to be machined;
- set up, operate and maintain various machine tools to perform precision, non-repetitive machining work, including sawing, turning, milling, boring, planing, drilling and grinding;
- fit and assemble machined metal parts and sub-assemblies using hand and power tools;
- verify, using precision measuring instruments, that product dimensions are accurate and conform to specifications;
- set up, if necessary, and program machine tools for machining operators.
