Overview

Digital Core is BMO’s enterprise platform organization, responsible for building and managing shared technology capabilities that support the bank’s core digital services. The organization brings together software engineers, architects, and technical leaders, along with quality engineering, platform support, and business management teams.

Digital Core platforms include enterprise API platforms, event-driven data streaming, customer data platforms, identity and access management, document management, workflow orchestration, and enterprise alerting solutions.

These platforms are built on a modern technology stack including cloud-native services (AWS), API management (IBM API Connect), event streaming (Kafka), and distributed data platforms (Java, SQL, NoSQL).

The Senior Technical Lead, Digital Core B2B Delivery plays a critical role in enabling the successful delivery of platform changes supporting B2B partner integrations. This role is accountable for leading end-to-end technical delivery across multiple Digital Core platforms, ensuring solutions are delivered with quality, reliability, and alignment to enterprise standards.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role with no direct people management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end technical delivery of Digital Core platform changes supporting B2B partner initiatives
  • Develop and manage integrated delivery plans across multiple platform teams
  • Coordinate execution across development, testing, release management, and production deployment
  • Partner closely with developers and technical leads to guide implementation and ensure delivery quality
  • Review and assess technical designs and implementation approaches across platforms
  • Proactively identify risks, gaps, and delivery challenges, and work with teams to address them
  • Lead technical triage and support resolution of cross-platform issues
  • Ensure delivery readiness through all phases of the software development lifecycle, including system integration testing and production deployment
  • Provide clear and concise updates on delivery progress, risks, and key issues to stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of delivery practices, helping to strengthen technical execution, integration approaches, and overall platform delivery effectiveness

How the Role Operates
  • Works closely with multiple Digital Core platform teams within a centralized delivery model
  • Provides technical leadership and coordination across developers and technical leads for assigned initiatives
  • Acts as a central point of accountability for delivery outcomes while partnering with platform leads, project managers, and release teams
  • Reports to the Director, Digital Core B2B Delivery, with regular visibility to senior leadership, ensuring alignment on delivery progress, risks, and priorities
  • Balances technical leadership with delivery coordination to ensure successful, end-to-end execution

What You BringRequired
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale enterprise software delivery initiatives with strong technical depth
  • Strong software development background, with hands-on experience writing and reviewing code
  • Proven ability to lead complex initiatives across multiple teams and platforms
  • Strong technical foundation in API platforms, event-driven architecture, cloud platforms, or enterprise integration
  • Ability to evaluate and guide technical solutions, ensuring alignment to standards and delivery objectives
  • Experience identifying and managing delivery risks across complex, multi-system initiatives
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, system integration testing, and production deployment practices
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred
  • Experience working with enterprise platforms such as API management, Kafka/event streaming, IAM, or cloud-native services
  • Experience in large-scale enterprise or financial services environments

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
