The Sales Coordinator role is an entry-level position on the Global Markets trading floor designed for high-potential individuals seeking to build a long-term career in Capital Markets. The role provides hands-on exposure to sales, trading, and client activity while supporting the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced trading desk.

This position requires strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to perform under pressure. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, operational excellence, and a willingness to learn-earning increased responsibility over time through consistent performance and initiative.

Key Responsibilities

Trading Floor & Desk Support

  • Provide real-time administrative and operational support to Sales and Trading teams on the trading floor.

  • Serve as a point of contact for inbound client calls and inquiries, directing requests appropriately and ensuring timely follow-up.

  • Support daily desk workflows to ensure responsiveness, organization, and operational efficiency.

  • Coordinate closely with Sales, Trading, and internal partners to support smooth desk operations.

  • Maintain and update client distribution lists, contact records, and internal desk trackers.

Client Servicing & Sales Support

  • Assist with inbound and outbound client communications, including call handling, activity logging, and follow-up tracking.

  • Maintain and update client contact information, distribution lists, and internal coverage trackers.

  • Coordinate client meetings, including scheduling, logistics, materials preparation, and post-meeting action items.

  • Support Sales teams in the preparation and distribution of client-facing materials such as market color, pricing summaries, and presentation content.

Activity Tracking & Coordination

  • Log client interactions, requests, and follow-ups accurately in internal systems.

  • Track outstanding client and desk items to ensure timely responses and execution.

  • Assist in maintaining organized records to support compliance and internal reporting requirements.

Learning, Development & Growth

  • Build a strong understanding of assigned products, markets, and client segments through hands-on exposure.

  • Participate in desk-level learning opportunities and internal training sessions.

  • Take ownership of recurring responsibilities and proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency and service quality.

  • For interested individuals, pursue industry licensing over time with support from the firm, opening the door to broader responsibilities.

Key Skills & Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; finance, economics, business, STEM, or related field preferred.

  • Strong interest in Capital Markets, markets, and client-facing roles.

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional demeanor.

  • Willingness to begin in a support-oriented role with a long-term growth mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship or customer-facing experience in a financial or professional services environment.

  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  • Familiarity with CRM or activity-tracking systems is a plus.

  • Demonstrated initiative, resilience, and work ethic in high-expectation settings.

Salary:

The salary range for this role is $70,000 up to $85,000 CAD (subject to the candidate meeting the specific skills, experience, education, and qualification requirements).

Salary:

$45,500.00 - $84,500.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
