Supports the execution of accurate and efficient reporting solutions for risk, regulatory and management information to internal and external stakeholders including regulatory bodies. Supports an efficient and effective risk management function which uses common information sources and practices, reduces ongoing costs, increases service level performance and minimizes risk.
- Executes and organizes work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient scheduled and ad‑hoc processes. Supports the development and maintenance of operational procedures related to the team’s mandates and functions.
- Supports the maintenance, monitoring, and measurement of key Market Risk indicators, data, and attributes, including stress testing, Value at Risk (VaR), trading limits, daily P&L backtesting, and related investigations.
- Understands, analyzes, and communicates key drivers and trends, providing context around changes in each line of business’s market risk profile.
- Ensures strong governance and effective controls across activities and information in alignment with team, departmental, enterprise, and regulatory standards. Contributes to the preparation of materials and responses for internal and external audits.
- Develops solutions and provides recommendations based on a solid understanding of business strategy and stakeholder needs.
- Offers advice and guidance to assigned business groups on implementing risk-related solutions and enhancements.
- Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Helps determine business priorities and the optimal sequencing required to execute the business or group strategy.
- Conducts independent analysis and assessments to address and resolve strategic issues.
- Breaks down complex strategic problems and analyzes data to produce meaningful insights and recommendations.
- Leads or supports the maintenance, monitoring, measurement, and reporting of the stress testing and scenario analysis program for various internal and external stakeholders.
- Works with stakeholders to clarify business requirements, identify distinct problems, and define expected outcomes; models and frames business scenarios affecting key processes and decisions.
- Assesses the impact of updates to stress scenarios or model parameters-driven by market or external environmental changes-on stress testing outcomes.
- Consults with stakeholders to enhance the consistency, transparency, and effectiveness of risk measurement, metrics, and reporting.
- Develops and maintains deep knowledge of the business, its risk-management requirements, and applicable legislative and regulatory guidelines.
- Builds strong, effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensures alignment of priorities and expectations across stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Typically, between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Nice to have CFA or FRM or other related qualification.
- Strong knowledge to write and troubleshoot Excel VBA/SQL/Python and automation tools.
- Strong programming skills are a bonus.
- Must have knowledge of market risk measurements such as Stress Testing/greeks/VaR/Stressed VaR/ etc
- Product knowledge for the designated business/portfolio.
- Knowledge of risk management theory, processes and portfolio management reporting techniques.
- Knowledge of reporting & analytics concepts and applications.
- Knowledge of industry trends and regulatory requirements for risk reporting.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
