Supports the organization’s growth objectives by enhancing profitability, market share and loyalty of the assigned branch / market with a focus on recruitment, operational and sales compliance, and professional development of branch staff. Works collaboratively within the branch, BMO partners and the community to build relationships and deliver the desired customer experience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising, coaching and developing a team of 5 to 10 Investment Associates. This role is accountable for overseeing day‑to‑day activities, monitoring performance and driving the achievement of business objectives, while fostering a collaborative, high‑performance culture. The position also includes providing coaching and support to build capabilities, as well as contributing to continuous process improvement and the growth of distribution activities.

Key Accountabilities

1. Growth, Business Development & Market Strategy

• Build, maintain and leverage a network of internal and external referral sources to drive business growth and connect clients with appropriate partners.
• Support the development and execution of the annual business planning and goal‑setting process.
• Contribute to the achievement of growth, profitability, assets under management and market performance targets.
• Provide insights, independent analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision‑making.
• Advise senior leaders on market strategy, business priorities and key initiatives.
• Monitor local market economic conditions, competitive dynamics and industry best practices to identify opportunities and risks.

2. Leadership, Governance & Resource Management

• Allocate and manage resources effectively to deliver strategic initiatives and achieve business and financial objectives.
• Contribute to business prioritization and the sequencing of strategic execution.
• Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on complex business decisions.
• Apply strong strategic judgment to navigate ambiguous, complex or non‑routine situations.
• Operate across the operating group or enterprise as a subject‑matter expert supporting senior leadership and stakeholders.

3. Client Experience & Operational Excellence

• Champion a client‑first culture by modeling high standards of customer service.
• Enhance the sales process and client experience through performance analysis, gap identification and implementation of best practices.
• Provide ongoing technical support to teams and resolve escalated client issues as required.
• Ensure disciplined operational execution to deliver accurate, timely and high‑quality service.
• Oversee the implementation of operational programs and adjust deployment to ensure consistency and quality outcomes.

4. Talent, Training & Team Development

• Lead the training, coaching and development of sales and service teams in alignment with business strategy.
• Attract, recruit and retain top talent for sales and service roles.
• Identify business and capability gaps and design targeted training tools and programs.
• Support employee development, succession planning and sustained team performance.
• Provide coaching and follow‑up resulting from audits, compliance reviews and performance assessments.

5. Change Management & Strategic Communications

• Lead change management initiatives, including readiness assessment, planning, execution and sustainability.
• Develop and execute communication strategies that drive engagement and positively influence behaviours.
• Partner with cross‑functional BMO teams to ensure alignment and consistency of messaging.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

6. Compliance, Risk Management & Controls

• Serve as a subject‑matter expert on policies, regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
• Participate in audits and compliance reviews and ensure timely remediation and follow‑up.
• Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, ethical and internal policy requirements.
• Safeguard Bank and client assets and protect the confidentiality of information.
• Make sound, risk‑based decisions aligned with the Bank’s risk management framework and risk appetite.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant professional experience and a post‑secondary degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven people leadership and supervisory experience.
• Must meet the licensing and certification requirements for the branch / jurisdiction where the mandate is being fulfilled.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and data‑driven decision‑making capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate and operate effectively in a complex, matrixed environment.
• Comfortable working in dynamic, ambiguous and evolving environments.

Salary:

$86,000.00 - $160,000.00

Pay Type:

Salaried & Commission

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
