The BMO Capital Markets Investment Banking Calgary energy group provides a full suite of products and services to clients in the oil & gas production, energy infrastructure, and oilfield services sectors through an integrated Capital Markets platform, including M&A advisory and capital raising services. Investment Banking Analysts and Associates are responsible for assisting teams in the development of pitch materials for current or prospective clients, and the ultimate execution of transactions. Primary responsibilities include:

• Supporting deal teams in the execution of M&A transactions, as well as equity and debt financings.

• Preparing and delivering client presentations.

• Performing complex financial analysis including financial modeling.

• Conducting company and industry research and analysis.

• Collaborating and building relationships with various internal product partners.

• Maintaining internal databases.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in business, finance, accounting, engineering or a related field, with an outstanding academic achievement.

• 1-4 years of investment banking experience or relevant experience within the energy sector.

• Strong technical, written and verbal communication skills.

• Analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to balance competing priorities, timelines and requests while maintaining a high standard of work.

• Hard-working, self-starter, able to work autonomously and as team player.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), FactSet and Bloomberg.

• Strong understanding of the energy sector.

Salary

The base salary range for these specific positions in Calgary is $100,000 to $135,000 (subject to the candidate meeting the specific skills, experience, education, and qualification requirements)

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
