Description
The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, or financial reporting
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and data analysis
• Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements, account reconciliations, variance analyses, and working papers
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders
• CPA designation or active enrollment in the CPA program
• Experience in a hospital, health care, or broader public sector environment
• Understanding of MIS / OHRS reporting standards, healthcare funding methodologies and reporting requirements
• Experience using Power BI for dashboard development, data visualization, and reporting
• Experience working with Meditech or other ERP solutions
• Knowledge of Canadian public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS)
• French Language Proficiency preferred
• Strong business acumen with the ability to interpret financial results and provide actionable recommendations
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to data integrity
• Ability to support clinical or administrative leaders through operational financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis
• Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals and related financial and statistical reporting
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
• Prepare monthly financial variance analysis for assigned departments and programs
• Partner with departmental leaders to review financial performance, identify risks, and support informed decision-making
• Support the annual operating budget process, while working closely with internal hospital leadership
• Prepare Ministry of Health, Ontario Health or other financial reporting requirements
• Support the development of Power BI dashboards and other financial reporting solutions
• Prepare annual audit working papers and liaise with external auditors as required
• Participate in strategic initiatives, process improvement projects and ad hoc financial analyses
• Perform other duties as assigned
