Description
The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Baccalaureate degree in nursing or health related field required.
• Master’s degree in a nursing, related health discipline, business or health administration required.
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or related Regulated Professional College required.
• Five (5) years experience in a Supervisory/Management position in a clinical setting required.
• Management experience in one or more of the above departments preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills required.
• Demonstrated skills in day-to-day problem solving essential (patient safety, staffing, complaint resolution, conflict resolution, fiscal budget and performance management planning, change management, professional performance management, accountability and risk management) required.
• Ability to use related information systems tools (Meditech/MS Office) required.
This Director role is accountable to a portfolio responsible for overseeing and supporting the following programs:
1) Sarnia Site - Inpatient Rehabilitation unit, Sarnia Lambton District Stroke Center, Cardiac Clinic, Specialized Geriatric Services, Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP), Cognitively Complex unit, Musculoskeletal (MSK) Rapid Access Clinic, Total Joint Replacement Bundles care program, and Rehabilitation Therapy Services - including Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, and recreation Therapy (Both Sites)
2) Petrolia Site - Inpatient Medicine unit, and Complex Continuing Care Unit
Reporting to VP Care Transitions and in collaboration with physician program leaders, the senior team and both internal and external stakeholders, the Program Director will provide innovative leadership to the programs which put patients and families first, offering personal and compassionate care. The Director will ensure the programs operate in alignment with the hospital’s vision, mission and strategic direction. They will provide vision and leadership which enables excellence in clinical practice, program development and staff development. Overall, the role of a Director is critical to the organization’s success, requiring a combination of strategic vision, strong leadership, and operational expertise to effectively navigate the complex healthcare landscape and deliver high-quality care to patients.
Duties include:
• Promotes Bluewater Health’s mission, vision and values and Strategic Plan. Develops and implements strategic plans across programs.
• Promotes and facilitates the use of systems that ensure patient needs are being met, and that the provision of patient care is consistent with the goals, objectives and standards of the programs aligned to the strategic goals and priorities.
• Facilitates and champions an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to problem solving and decision-making by the patient care team around program and patient centred care goals.
• Provides vision and leadership that enables excellence in clinical practice, program development and staff development.
• Continually advances the operation effectiveness and efficiency of the program through quality improvement initiative, benchmarking, implementation of clinical and management information systems, the introduction of new technology, and work redesign and innovative opportunities as it pertains to a collaborative model of care.
• Collaboratively develops and monitors the operating and capital budget for the program using appropriate forecasting and costing models, funding formulas, clinical and workload data.
• Plans, implements and elevates outcomes of work processes for areas of responsibility and direct reports.
• Applies principles and philosophy of continuous improvement to day-day work and practice.
• Fiscally responsible for the areas of responsibility.
• Ensures the effective management of employee relations.
• Participates in internal as well as external committee, as required and in consultation with the VP as may be deemed appropriate.
• Utilizes data to measure quality of care, customer and staff satisfaction and clinical and financial outcomes. In collaboration with stakeholders internally and externally develops initiatives to continuously improve outcomes.
• Ensures staff are competent in their field of expertise by supporting and advancing the education of all staff within the program.
• Collaborates with other health care and community partners.
