Description
The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

-Successful completion of a Post Secondary Program preferred
-Graduate of Health Sciences Program preferred
-Basic proficiency in the use of computers required
-Ability to meet the physical demands of this job required
-Experience as an OB Aide preferred
-Knowledge of proper lifting techniques required
-Knowledge of sterile technique required
-Knowledge of instrumentation preferred
-Demonstrated ability to function productively and independently in a very demanding environment with proven organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills required
-Recent experience as a Unit Helper preferred
-Recent experience working in a Healthcare environment preferred
-Recent experience using Virtuo to order supplies required
-Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
-French Language Proficiency preferred
-Responsible for the tidiness and cleanliness of patient care and nursing work areas relevant to the needs of the department
-Delivery and pick up of products as needed (specimens, lab, blood, etc)
-Cleans, orders, processes, packages, stocks and stores supplies and equipment including daily stocking rooms
- Restocks supplies for the unit/department/C-section operating room
-Daily equipment reprocessing of various medical / surgical trays, specialized instrumentation
-Ensure equipment and department maintenance needs - complete maintenance requisitions
-Strips beds and rooms
-Makes beds, disposes and replaces linen according to procedure
-Order supplies as needed
-Porters patients, supplies and equipment as required by the department
-Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
-Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
-Other related duties as assigned
Selection will be made on the basis of ability, experience and qualifications as per Article 11.04 of the SEIU Collective Agreement
