We are recruiting a Senior AI Software Developer for a leading Canadian organization investing in artificial intelligence applications used by teams across the country.
You will join a small team dedicated to AI, designing and building applications powered by large language models (LLMs) and AI agents. You will take ownership of these solutions from early prototype through production. This is a hands-on development role with the opportunity to guide the team’s engineering practices and mentor a junior developer.
What you’ll doDesign and build Python applications powered by generative AI, including agents that use tools and interact with internal systems.
Develop secure integrations with the organization’s documents, email, data and applications using APIs and Model Context Protocol (MCP) tool servers.
Turn new ideas into working prototypes, gather user feedback and bring promising solutions into production.
Make application architecture decisions that support reliability, security and maintainability.
Improve code quality through testing, code reviews, documentation and CI/CD practices.
Troubleshoot production issues and implement lasting fixes.
Mentor a junior developer and help establish strong engineering practices for AI projects.
Work directly with project stakeholders to clarify requests, manage priorities and communicate progress.
Strong Python software development experience, including designing, deploying and supporting production applications.
Hands-on experience with LLM-powered or agentic AI applications beyond the prototype stage.
The ability to take end-to-end technical ownership of an application and work independently within a small team.
Strong skills in API development, system integrations, testing and code review.
Experience mentoring developers, or the ability to guide others while remaining actively involved in development.
The ability to learn quickly, solve unfamiliar problems and manage changing priorities.
Professional English proficiency to collaborate with teams across Canada. French is an asset.
Experience with FastAPI, Azure, LangChain or LangGraph, Claude Agent SDK, MCP servers, OAuth, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), GitHub Actions or AI-assisted development tools would be especially valuable. You do not need experience with every tool listed. Above all, we are looking for someone who can deliver reliable applications and adapt as AI technologies evolve.
Employment detailsPermanent, full-time position: 35 hours per week.
Hybrid work arrangement with three days per week at the downtown Montréal office.
Annual base salary starting at $140,000, depending on experience.
Annual bonus.
