Working at BlackBerry’s headquarters in Waterloo, ON or remote, the Senior Financial Accounting Analyst (12 month contract) will join a team of dynamic and experienced finance professionals on the Company’s accounting team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Accounting, the position will assist in accounting related projects, including researching accounting guidance related to revenue, leases and complex transactions, process improvements and financial close processes.
Specific Accountabilities:
- Perform contract reviews for accounting recognition considerations and collaborate with Sales, FP&A, Legal, and other departments relative to contract negotiations or new product offerings to provide guidance on technical accounting, policies, and processes
- Review and vouch sales order alongside supporting document to verify accuracy and correctness of revenue recognition
- Support monthly and quarterly close processes with accurate data and analysis including preparing and posting manual journal entries, reviewing credits to align with support documentation and company policy
- Assist with drafting of the Company’s External Financial Statements
- Assist with the Company’s global statutory audits, compliance reporting and process improvements
- Ensure accounting transactions are in compliance with revenue and lease accounting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies
- Conduct thoroughly researched and supported accounting analyses on routine and non-routine transactions to determine the proper treatment under U.S. GAAP
Qualifications/Experience:
- Canadian or United States CPA designation is preferred
- 2+ years’ experience working within public accounting, Big Four experience is preferred
- Experience with U.S. GAAP or IFRS accounting standards
- Detail oriented with strong analytical, problem solving and organization skills.
- The ability to think strategically and effectively work across functions to resolve complex business problems
- Ability to set and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced spreadsheet modeling
