Are you the person we are looking for?

The Functional Safety team is the backbone of QNX-the group that ensures the world’s most trusted embedded operating system stays worthy of its reputation. If you’re a seasoned safety expert who thrives on technical authority, cross‑industry influence, and solving problems before they ever reach the field, this is where your work will matter on a global scale.

Joining us means stepping into a role where your expertise shapes the safety posture of products used in millions of devices, from next‑generation vehicles to mission‑critical industrial systems. You’ll collaborate with top-tier engineering teams and guide some of the world’s most recognizable automotive Tier 1s.

What You’ll Lead

  • Own the functional safety case for QNX products across the full lifecycle, including Safety Plans, Safety Concepts, and structured safety arguments

  • Perform high‑rigor safety analyses (HARA, FMEA, FTA, DFA) and produce artifacts that withstand independent assessment

  • Define and manage safety evidence for certification, ensuring readiness at every milestone

  • Serve as the primary technical interface with external safety assessors from planning to closure

  • Advise engineering teams on ASIL‑appropriate design decisions and catch issues early

  • Support customers and Tier 1 partners on SEooC integration, safety manual interpretation, and residual risk arguments

  • Evaluate customer architectures and provide written safety guidance

  • Represent QNX in standards bodies and influence emerging requirements

  • Drive continuous improvement of internal safety processes, templates, and tooling

What You Bring
  • Deep expertise in ISO 26262 with hands‑on application of Part 6, Part 8, and SEooC

  • Proven experience performing safety analyses (HARA, FMEA, FTA, DFA)

  • End‑to‑end ownership of a safety case through a full certification or assessment cycle

  • Direct collaboration with accredited assessors

  • Requirements management at scale using tools like Jama or DOORS

  • Embedded C development background sufficient to evaluate ASIL‑constrained implementations

  • Exceptional communication skills for writing assessor‑facing documentation and advising non‑safety stakeholders

  • Technical Leadership or mentorship experience
  • Ability to operate independently across a globally distributed team

The work we’re doing is not incremental-it’s foundational, and it’s accelerating. Come join us!
