We are looking for a translator and project manager to coordinate the various translation, revision, proofreading and copyediting requests submitted to BDO Canada’s Linguistic Services team on a contract until September 2026.

The successful candidate will be required to collaborate with teams across all service lines, the national office, partners and external clients, and will be tasked with planning resources, setting deadlines and anticipating the workload involved in processing submitted requests in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage translation, revision, proofreading, and copyediting requests; assign projects to team members; keep track of ongoing and upcoming projects to manage workflow

  • Together with management, create and keep up to date a calendar with all the firm’s major projects slated for the year
  • Actively help implement and support the FlowFit project management tool in collaboration with management and the project team (experience with FlowFit is a plus)
  • Serve as a key contact for clients, team members and other stakeholders to foster collaboration
  • Convey project requirements, deadlines, and expectations to team members, particularly in the case of financial statements and prospectuses
  • Work with management on projects and as needed
  • Ensure projects are processed in a timely manner

How do we define success in the role?

  • You embody BDO’s core values: integrity, respect and collaboration.
  • You understand our industry, the challenges we face, and the time-sensitive nature of some requests. You are seen as proactive, resourceful and positive, and you consistently deliver high-quality work.
  • You are a real team player, value effective communication among colleagues, and are committed to building an inclusive and stimulating work environment.
  • You actively embrace digital tools and strategies to drive workplace innovation.
  • You actively participate in the adoption of digital tools and strategies to drive an innovative workplace.
  • You seek out learning and professional development opportunities to build your skills.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in translation
  • Translation experience in the accounting or financial sector (a plus)
  • Strong project management and interpersonal skills
  • Good knowledge of computer-assisted translation software (SDL Trados Studio), translation project management software (a plus), and terminology databases
  • Knowledge of accounting terminology used by industry professionals and CPA Canada (a plus)
  • Strong focus on teamwork and customer service
  • Member of OTTIAQ (a plus)
  • Due to the frequent and complex contact with our English-speaking partners and clients in Quebec and outside of Quebec, and the need to draft documents in English, knowledge of English is essential for this position.
