National Risk Management Specialist

Your Opportunity

The Risk Management team at BDO is responsible for the development, execution and monitoring of the firm’s risk management and independence processes. We are seeking a specialist to join our dynamic team of professionals. As a member of the Risk Management team, this individual will assist with the firm’s independence and compliance processes and provide support to our client facing professionals on these processes.

• Assist in development, management and updating of internal client and engagement intake processes
• Assist with updates to firm risk and independence policies, processes, and tools, and intranet sites to ensure we continue to comply with BDO requirements both locally and globally
• Provide guidance to client-serving teams on the completion of client and engagement onboarding processes
• Assist with independence and conflict check processes, including follow up with partners and staff to ensure that identified conflicts and independence issues have been appropriately dealt with
• Prepare draft communications on risk processes and changes
• Perform other projects related to Risk Management as required

Your experience and education

• You possess an undergraduate degree
• You have proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams)
• You are keen at keeping up to date with advancing technology and AI in the workplace
• You have strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
• Experience producing analytical reports and metrics
• You have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• You are a confident communicator when dealing with senior leadership
• You have the ability to prioritize workloads and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• You have a solid grasp of project management basics
• Proven ability to apply initiative and creativity when approaching challenges
• You have experience in a Professional accounting firm, law firm or in a Risk Management role
• Experience in a software development environment would be an asset
