Your Opportunity

The Canadian Revenue Agency's Scientific Research and Experimental Development ("SR&ED") tax credit program provides generous incentives for Canadian companies that conduct research and development in Canada. In addition, there are many other grant and incentive programs available to Canadian companies to support their innovation and growth initiatives. With a strong international and national presence, BDO is one of the leading professional service providers in Canada. Our team of professionals assists clients with their SR&ED claims and other program funding opportunities by navigating the application process and ensures our clients receive the maximum benefit under the program. Our Technology and Life Sciences team is focused on clients within the software and technology industry.

We are looking for a Co-op, Technical R&D Consultant to join the SR&ED team and own the following responsibilities:

  • Assess technical eligibility, structure projects
  • Prepare technical reports that describe the client’s technical (e.g. scientific, engineering) challenges and experiments performed
  • Work as part of a team of consultants on multiple client engagements/projects in the technology/software industry
  • Support the examination of client operations and processes to determine eligibility for various government grants, tax credits, and funding programs, developing the appropriate methodology to claim those activities and the methods to maximize those incentives
  • Plan, organize and execute the technical portion of engagements, including interviews of technical personnel and work with financial team members

  • You actively participate in the adoption of digital tools and strategies to drive an innovative workplace
  • You grow your expertise through learning and professional development.

Preferred experience and education

  • You are working towards a Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Software or IT fields
  • You have experience working in the software industry or supporting software clients
  • You have experience in programming/developing
  • You have demonstrated client service excellence and have excellent interpersonal skills
  • You are outgoing, self-confident and able to achieve individual and team objectives
