Job Summary


The Team:
The Ministry of Forests’ Natural Resource Officer Service (NROS) delivers a full range of compliance and enforcement activities, including education, promotion and compliance with regulatory requirements and conducting major environmental investigations. The NROS supports the management and delivery of compliance and enforcement activities in a manner that is timely, appropriate and consistent with the mandate of the Ministry.

The Role:
The role of the Natural Resource Officer (NRO) involves conducting inspections, compliance testing, and investigations to ensure adherence to legislation, regulations, or licence conditions. This includes identifying non-compliance, imposing fines, or recommending further sanctions when necessary. The NRO also requires gathering evidence in preparation for quasi-judicial or criminal court proceedings. Your work will help to directly protect the land, water, forests, and cultural resources of British Columbia, ensuring the public's interest in the management of these diverse natural resources. This role offers a unique and varied work environment where no two days are alike, providing opportunities to engage in public education, compliance inspections, and enforcement actions across the province.
