The Ministry of Forests is responsible for the stewardship of provincial Crown land and ensures the sustainable management of forest, wildlife, water and other land-based resources. Job Requirements:

  • Diploma in a natural resource management field and 1 year related experience
  • Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, with the Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT). Note: immediately eligible is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the FPBC. Confirmation of registration/eligibility will be required before an offer of employment can be made

Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.

Provisos

  • Valid BC driver’s licence.
  • May be required to operate field equipment (i.e. quad, snowmobile).
  • Willingness to conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.
  • Must be physically able to carry equipment and supplies in difficult terrain.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established for future permanent opportunities.
Located within the Rocky Mountain Trench, Mackenzie provides a large selection of activities like snowmobiling, cross country and downhill skiing, hiking, mountain biking and camping in the summer. Fishing and boating can also be done at the nearby Morfee Lake.
