The Team
Mental health clinicians on the Fraser Cascade Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) team in the eastern Fraser Valley provide counselling services children, youth, and families across the region. With CYMH MCFD offices in Hope and Agassiz, the team supports a wide geographic area which includes many distinct indigenous communities. Our team values energy, expertise, and a commitment to knowledge-sharing. We work in partnership with families, schools, and community agencies to provide wrap-around, integrated mental health support, often in an outreach capacity. With regular opportunities for training and clinical discussions, we empower each other to grow professionally while fostering wellness across our communities through collaboration and mutual respect.

Successful candidate must understand the value of developing cultural competence and your direct responsibilities related to Indigenous policies, programs or engagement ensure that you build and maintain relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders in the community to ensure that conflicts are resolved, and appropriate outcomes are achieved.

The Role
As a CYMH Clinician on our team, you will provide direct clinical services including intake, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention for children and youth experiencing significant emotional, psychological, or behavioral challenges. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with schools, hospitals, community agencies, and other ministry programs to deliver individual, group, and family therapy. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to support children, youth, and families while contributing to community-based prevention, early intervention, and education efforts. You’ll also help build and maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders to ensure coordinated, effective, and compassionate care.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• Masters in Counselling, Social Work, Educational Counselling, Clinical Counselling, Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master’s level in a similar subject may be considered.
  • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
• Minimum of one (1) year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
• Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

• Two (2) years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
• Six (6) months of recent (within the past 5 years) experience or training in providing services to clients with eating disorders and/or Early Psychosis Intervention.
• Training in specialty modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT - minimum 30-hour foundational training), evidence-based trauma therapies (e.g. Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), and/or evidence-based training in family therapy (e.g. Emotion Focused Family Therapy).
• Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.
