Job Summary

The Team
Our branch supports MSP and MSC, ensuring accurate physician compensation and managing payment schedules like Longitudinal Family Practice and Fee-for-Service. The team of senior leaders, managers, analysts, and support staff provides expertise in policy, data, and operations. We adapt to complex workflows, address emerging issues, and align with the Physician Master Agreement while collaborating with government, health authorities, and physicians to improve systems, enhance transparency, and ensure fair, sustainable remuneration. Together, we play a critical role in strengthening BC’s health care system.

The Role
As a Senior Medical Consultant, you will apply your clinical expertise to support the Medical Services Plan. Your work will focus on reviewing complex medical cases and providing guidance that ensures decisions are consistent with clinical standards and provincial policy. You will collaborate closely with the co-Senior Medical Advisor (job-shared) and the panel of Medical Advisors, contributing to a team that brings clinical insight to operational and policy processes. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by strengthening trust in the system for both practitioners and patients while working within a multidisciplinary team that values collaboration and diverse perspectives.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • M.D.
  • Must be licensed by and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) to practice medicine in BC. Physicians not currently licensed by the CPSBC must be eligible to register with the College.
  • At least five (5) years of clinical experience

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Experience in government or medical administration.
  • Experience with the British Columbia Fee for Service Payment system.
  • Clinical experience obtained within the last five years.

About this Position:
This position is part time .5 FTE, 17.5 hours biweekly.
This position can be based out of any of the locations listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to five (5) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
This position is excluded from union membership.
