LP 5A - Integrated Practice Clinician

The Team
MCFD’s Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) teams are community-based groups that work collaboratively with families, schools, and local agencies to support the mental health and well-being of children and youth. These multidisciplinary teams aim to foster positive outcomes through coordinated, family-centered services across various community settings.

The Role
The Integrated Practice Clinician supports children, youth, and families involved with MCFD by collaborating with internal teams and external service providers to address complex mental health needs. Using a neurodevelopmental and trauma-informed approach, the clinician provides education, consultation, and coordinated treatment planning to strengthen the capacity of care teams and promote stability and healing.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

• Ph.D. in Clinical/Applied Psychology, Counselling Psychology, OR PsyD, AND *registered with, or eligible for, registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC).
  • NOTE: If you are registered as a Psychologist in another province, equivalencies for out of province applicants may be considered by the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC). Please contact the association for registration requirements in BC.
  • NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
• Completion of a psychological pre-or post-doctoral internship of 1600 hours in a child and youth mental health or hospital setting with specialization in formal psychological assessment, diagnoses and treatment of mental health disorders.
• Experience in clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology.
• Minimum of one year full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
• Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver’s license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

• Two years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
• Experience in providing direct interventions around the trauma-based behaviours of children and youth.
• Completed formal post-graduate trauma training focusing on neurodevelopment, and attachment such as: Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (Child Trauma Academy), Completion of the CCI (Complex Care Intervention) Certification Program, and/or the Complex Trauma Certificate (JIBC).
• Completed training in infant mental health and parent-child relational interventions and assessment tools such as: Watch, Wait and Wonder, The Circle of Security, and the AMBIANCE-Brief measure.
• Demonstrated experience facilitating presentations on trauma informed material to social workers, caregivers, educators, and other professionals involved in the care and treatment of complex children and youth.
• Experience providing a variety of outreach and community-based work-related activities.
• Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

Currently there are two (2) opportunities available; One (1) permanent opportunity in and one (1) temporary opportunity until July 3rd, 2026.
A permanent appointment may result from the temporary appointment.
Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
