Job Summary

The Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB) provides policy, standards, regulatory, audit, conducts investigations and enforcement oversight of all gaming and horse racing sectors to ensure the integrity of public gaming in the Province. This includes regulatory oversight of the BC Lottery Corporation (which conducts and manages lotteries, casinos, and commercial bingo halls), BC’s horse racing industry and licensed gaming events.

In 2018 Dr. Peter German completed a review of gambling and money laundering in British Columbia. This review resulted in 48 recommendations including recommendation #27 which states: that British Columbia transition to an independent regulator in the form of a Service Delivery Crown Corporation, with a Board of Directors and a CEO/Registrar. Government accepted this recommendation in principle and work is underway to bring the new Gaming Control Act into force and transition to the Independent Gambling Control Office.

This position will provide business analysis services for assigned clients and projects, recommend technology solutions, prepare technical specifications and related documentation, develop educational material and provide user training. IT will support GPEB users with line of business applications in the use of their computer hardware and standard software tools.

Job Requirements:

  • Secondary School graduation (Dogwood, GED) and 3 years of related experience; OR
  • Certificate or coursework in a computer science field and 2 years of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in a computer science field and 1 year of related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience providing customer support in a large information technology environment.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with a minimum of 3 years of experience with custom applications.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 5 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
