Job Summary

Work-Able Accessible Employment Program for People with Disabilities

The Work-Able Accessible Employment Program is a paid BC Public Service work experience program for recent post-secondary graduates who self-identify as having a disability. All placements are currently 12 months long from September to September with the opportunity to extend positions up to 24 months in total.

This unique program provides learning, coaching and mentorship throughout the program and Work-Able employees will gain valuable skills and public service experience. The program offers extensive training, growth and development opportunities, a competitive salary and a balance between work and life commitments. The BC Public Service is committed to continuing to be an employer of choice and providing an accessible and equitable employment environment.

These opportunities are for recent post-secondary graduates who self-identify as having a disability.

There are multiple full-time and part-time positions are available from September 7, 2026, to September 3, 2027. Positions may be extended for an additional 12 months, up to September 1, 2028.

Qualifications:
To be eligible for the Work-Able Accessible Employment Program you must:

  • Self-identify as a person with a disability; and
  • Reside in B.C.; and
  • Be immediately eligible to accept employment in Canada
  • Have completed the graduation requirements for a 2-year Diploma, Associate Degree, Under-graduate Degree or a Graduate Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution between the dates of April 2023 and September 2026

About this Position:

Position may be located in multiple communities around the Province of BC. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations. Individual positions within the attached job profile document will list specific offices, however that list is not exhaustive and office space can be provided in most regions within B.C. by request.

Positions may have flexible work options available; these positions may be able to work from home on a few days a week on a hybrid schedule, or up to full time remotely, with an approved Telework Agreement.

Positions may be eligible for Earned Day Off (EDO) or modified work schedules. Some positions in the attached job profiles document may have options for reduced or modified work weeks (.6FTE, .8FTE, or 9FTE) based on a full-time 35-hour work week.

A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required. Some positions may require a Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) or Enhanced Security Screening (ESS).

Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in B.C. at the time of employment.

  2. Verification of post-secondary graduation requirements for a 2-year Diploma, associate degree, Under-graduate Degree or a Graduate Degree have been met and are between the dates of April 2023, and September 2026.
  3. Authorization for Criminal Record Check (CRC) and/or Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) or Enhanced Security Screening (ESS).
