Job Summary

The Team
The team at the correctional centre is a collaborative group that works together to support safe, secure, and respectful operations in a 24/7 environment. As part of BC Corrections’ Adult Custody division, the team helps balance safety, rehabilitation, and fiscal responsibility through strong staff and shift planning, risk-based supervision, and evidence-informed programs. This team values inclusive leadership, positive relationships with staff and community partners, and creating a workplace where people from all backgrounds feel supported and able to contribute.

The Role
The Warden’s Assistant leads and coordinates the administrative services that support the planning and delivery of correctional services, ensuring the Warden and Deputy Wardens have accurate, timely information and smooth office operations. In this role, you’ll manage sensitive and urgent communications, provide executive coordination, and help maintain continuity when senior leaders are away. You’ll work closely with Corporate Services, Human Resources, centre staff, and the public, using strong communication and a respectful, inclusive approach when responding to concerns and supporting a diverse workplace and community.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years of clerical/administrative support experience, education and/or training.
  • Experience in dealing with confidential matters using sound judgement, tact and diplomacy.
  • Minimum of 50 words per minute (WPM) in keyboarding.
  • Experience and/or training in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; use of the Internet; and other standard computer applications.
  • Experience in providing services to various levels of government, industry, public and private organizations.
  • Experience in supervising staff.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with executive level support experience.

  • Willingness to work flexible/extended hours as necessary.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, for varying lengths of time.
