It operates year-round to deliver its mandate for wildfire management and response to natural hazard emergencies. The BCWS operates provincially, delivering services through six fire centres, thirty-three zones and two provincial centres in Kamloops and Victoria. This position is responsible to assist with the coordination of a wide range of asset management practices within the Fire Centres geographic area relating to asset, fleet and facilities management. Preference may be given to candidates with: Experience working with forklift or skid steer. Experience working with basic wildland firefighting equipment. Experience in contract and procurement management. Experience in facilities, assets (including inventory management), or vehicle fleet management. Experience creating and managing spreadsheets, and working with standard computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Provisos and Willingness Statements: Valid Class 5 drivers licence. To be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments and corporate structures. To keep current on emerging issues. To take in-house training and certification as required. To fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) as required. To work extended hours, including weekends, and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan. To travel and overnight in remote locations where accommodations may vary as required. To participate in Incident Command System positions as assigned. To work under adverse or stressful conditions, including smoke, extreme heat and mountainous terrain in remote and isolated conditions. This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above. Fort Nelson: Originally built around the bustling Alaska Highway, Fort Nelson has been awarded special designation as a wilderness management vicinity. Hiking, fishing, camping, wildlife viewing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling are all popular. Visiting Liard River Hotsprings Provincial Park allows a unique experience for visitors and community members alike. Fort St. John: British Columbias oldest interior community, Fort St. John is perfect for scenic drives, hiking, fishing, and camping, as it sits alongside the Peace River. Hiking is particularly nice in the surrounding provincial parks of Beatton Provincial Park and Charlie Lake Provincial park, where camping is also available. Its gentle rolling hills are perfect for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter months. This position has full time on-site requirements.
