Job Summary

Bring your strong administrative experience and superior organizational skills to this position

The Environmental Protection Division works to protect the human and environmental health of the province. Through the administration of the Environmental Management Act and the Integrated Pest Management Act and their regulations.

The Program Assistant provides a variety of office administrative, secretarial, and financial support services for the branch and coordinate the day-to-day priorities of the manager, including providing liaison with ministry executive offices. Working within a team that values empowerment, collaboration and innovation, this role will support the Manager of Divisional Operations and provide a linkage between the Assistant Deputy Minister’s office, Deputy Minister’s office, branch staff, other government ministries, First Nations, and proponents.

Job Requirements:

  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent (e.g. Dogwood, GED) and minimum 6 months *related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


*Related experience includes the following:

  • Experience working in an office setting.
  • Experience/training in keyboarding, database, word processing, spreadsheet, and other standard computer applications.
  • Experience using Adobe Acrobat Pro and MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.


Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:

  • Experience working in an Executive office providing support services to a group of staff in a confidential capacity.
  • Experience with Government software and applications.

About this Position:
This is a temporary opportunity until 12/13/2024.
A permanent appointment may result from this temporary appointment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
