The Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation plays a key role in delivering on Government’s commitment to creating a strong, sustainable economy that works for everyone. Within the ministry, the Small Business and Economic Development Division has a dynamic role through its Regional Economic Operations Branch to provide on-the-ground economic development assistance across British Columbia, working to advance business opportunities across key industry sectors and sharing economic best practices across communities, all for a healthy and resilient rural B.C.

The Regional Economic Operations (REO) Branch provides direct front-line service and support to communities, First Nations, industry, businesses, and economic development organizations, and also develops and delivers policies, programs and initiatives that support regional and rural economic development. The REO Branch includes a network of economic development staff that are located throughout the province focused on providing targeted responses to the needs of communities.

Job Requirements:

  • University degree, certificate, or college diploma in Public or Business Administration, Public Policy, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

  • Two (2) years’ experience supervising, coaching and mentoring staff or project teams.

  • Three (3) years’ experience in each of the following:

    • Leading sector and stakeholder consultation and/or multi-party discussions to resolve issues.

    • Building strategic partnerships and facilitating the development of collaborative relationships.

    • Managing complex projects with changing priorities, tight timelines and limited resources.

Preferences may be applied to:

  • Experience working in a local or regional economic development setting.

  • Experience leading regionally based and/or virtual teams.

Proviso:

  • A valid BC Driver’s License and ability (and willingness) to travel regionally.
