The division provides leadership, expertise and advice regarding legislation, policy, governance, accountability and stakeholder/partner relations for committees, ministries and the broader social sectors impacting mental wellness. The Child and Youth Mental Health and Substance Use Policy Branch leads the development, implementation and evaluation of programs, projects and deliverables that support building a comprehensive system of mental health and addictions care in B.C. This includes leading significant and complex projects with political sensitivity and high impact/risk outcomes. The Director, Indigenous Relations and Projects leads the development of major treatment, recovery and aftercare projects and programs. The position leads engagement and reconciliation efforts with First Nations, communities, , Indigenous service providers and political organizations, and is instrumental in developing and maintaining positive relationships with Indigenous Peoples to advance mental health and wellness that is founded on true and lasting reconciliation. Job Requirements: Degree in social sciences, business/public administration, public policy, health science administration, Indigenous studies or related discipline and three (3) or more years (preference may be given for five (5) or more years) of progressive and recent, related experience*; An alternative combination of education and experience may be considered. *Minimum of three (3) years (preference for five (5) or more) recent related experience must include: Experience building and maintaining relationships with First Nations communities, and/or Indigenous service providers and organizations. Experience in participating and/or leading culturally safe engagement processes with First Nations or Indigenous organizations. Leading, planning, coordinating and managing complex projects and work assignments, conflict resolution and solution building. Leading and coaching a multi-disciplinary team in a highly intense working environment. Building and maintaining strategic relationships and effectively influencing, managing and resolving conflict with internal and external partners. Organizing and managing concurrent projects with multiple, competing priorities and rigid deadlines. Creating and delivering executive-level presentations for the purpose of decision making. Managing politically sensitive and provincially significant issues. Establishing collaborative relationships with senior leaders. Preference may be given to applicants who: Self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Mtis or Inuit). Have experience working with First Nations communities, including knowledge of engagement approaches that are culturally safe. Have experience related to First Nations and Indigenous organization engagement and relationship building. Have lived experience or experience working with populations with complex health and social challenges. Willingness Statements: Must have a valid B.C. driver's license. May be required to travel and to be in the field, at times on short notice, to lead and troubleshoot negotiations and initiatives.
