The ADW leads and participates in a variety of areas, including initiating and overseeing partnerships with justice partners, non-profit organizations, advocacy groups and other external agencies to impact public safety and maintain confidence in BC Corrections. As a member of the centre leadership team, the ADW participates in the Leadership of the centre in maintaining safety and security of the centre, including authorizing use of force and implementing life saving strategies in the event of emergencies. In absence of the Deputy Warden, acts as second in command of the centre. As a member of the leadership team at Adult Custody divisional headquarters, the ADW represents the division on intra and inter-ministry working committees formed to develop strategic policy concepts and supporting documents. They may also represent BC Corrections on federal/ provincial/ territorial committees of senior officials and may be involved in the negotiation of federal/ provincial agreements At present there are six (6) ADW roles which incumbents rotate through: 1) Adult Custody divisional headquarters; 2) Sentence Management; 3) Staffing; 4) Standards; 5) Regulations; and 6) Programs. Job Requirements: Secondary school graduation or equivalent 5 years experience in an adult correctional environment or several years of related experience, OR An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following: A related university diploma or degree 2 years of supervisory experience Proviso/Willingness statement Willing and able to be on call in a 24 x 7 operation. As an on call manager, the position is required to be available immediately by telephone and attend the Centre, as necessary.
