The BC PNP allows the Province to attract and retain foreign workers and entrepreneurs for expedited permanent immigration based on B.C.s labour market and economic development priorities. The Program Advisor is accountable to assess and select the global skills and business talent British Columbia needs. The Program Advisor may work in either the Skills Immigration or Entrepreneur Immigration Units of the PNP. The Skills Immigration Unit supports BC employers to recruit and retain qualified foreign workers to help meet their current and future skill needs, and whose activities contribute to the Provinces economic development objectives. The Entrepreneur Immigration Unit selects foreign entrepreneurs who have the skills and capital to establish and actively manage a business venture that will contribute significant economic benefits to BC. Program Advisors are responsible for managing a large number of complex case files and making high-impact decisions according to program criteria and statutory requirements to select the global skills and business talent to meet B.Cs economic development needs. Program decisions involve multi-faceted considerations and result in significant impacts for applicants and their ability to become permanent residents of Canada. Program Advisors have a commitment to provide thorough due diligence, expert advice and excellent client service to a diverse multicultural clientele in a responsive and consistent manner, and in accordance with Ministry service standards. Job Requirements: Bachelors degree in business, economics, international relations, public administration, law, a social science or related field and one (1) year of related experience. Related experience must include all of the following: Experience conducting research and analysis and preparing written reports; Experience exercising due diligence in verifying and validating information presented (e.g. conducting investigations, researching/following up on facts, conducting site-visits). Experience dealing directly with clients, stakeholder groups or the general public. Experience working in a fast-paced, target-oriented work environment. Preference may be given to applicants with one year or more of work experience in any or all of the following: Interpreting and applying legislation or policy in a decision-making capacity. Assessing applications in a legislative or policy setting in a decision-making capacity. Delivering an immigration program, developing immigration policy, or who have at least one year of business experience (eg. business ownership, business consulting and/or evaluation or business management experience).
