Description
The Team
The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) is a unique area of government tasked with the responsibility of preventing, managing and suppressing unwanted wildfire on the landscape. Approximately 1600 field workers - comprising technical experts, strategic thinkers and fire operations staff - are dedicated to undertaking the BCWS mandate in delivering effective wildfire management and emergency response support to protect life and values at risk, encouraging sustainable, healthy and resilient ecosystems.
The Role
This position is responsible for providing logistical support for the provincial wildfire coordination operations section. Addressing resource requests for in province, out of province and importing situations. The position also participates in the pre-organization process for the fire season. It provides leadership and expertise for acquiring and managing resources within an emergent environment.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
- Experience creating and managing spreadsheets
- Experience working with standard computer applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- Experience using Incident Command System (ICS)
- Experience working in emergency response operations
- Contract and procurement experience

About this Position:
This temporary (auxiliary) position is a seasonal opportunity that goes from February to November, with possibility of recall on a yearly basis.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement. Flexible work options may not be available during emergency operations response periods.
An eligibility list may be established for future temporary opportunities.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
