requires the following

Temporary SOCIAL WORKER/REGULATED MENTAL HEALTH WORKER

(commencing immediately to March 13, 2025, or the return of the incumbent)

LOCATION:

Based out of Valour School, Petawawa, ON.

This position supports our Petawawa, Deep River and Madawaska family of schools and may include travel to related RCDSB locations.

HOURS PER WEEK:

35 hours per week; approximately 10.5 months per year

SUMMARY:

The Temporary Social Worker/Regulated Mental Health Worker will function as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing, but not limited to, implementation of evidence based programs and processes for tiered support for student mental health, as well as direct services to students, and families, through consultation/assessment; crisis intervention; counselling; community liaison/networking; prevention programming; professional development and child/family advocacy.

RATE OF PAY:

Annual salary grid range is $71,913 - $88,856

TERM: immediately to March 13, 2025 (or the return of the incumbent)

The unpaid breaks for this position are: ~6 weeks during the months of July & August, Christmas Break & March Break.

The working days for this position are the 194 school days plus 5 days following the end of the school year and 5 days preceding the start of the school year.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

? Master’s Degree in Social Work (Master’s Degree in a related field will also be considered)

? Registration in the appropriate professional college

? Experience in providing school based social work services from an evidence informed practice perspective

? Proven assessment and intervention skills

? Knowledge of local and regional community resources

? Ability to work in a team setting

? Professionalism in dealing with confidential information

? Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)

? Ability to work collaboratively with others

? Training in ASIST, and BMS and experience with CBT and solution focused therapy would be an asset

Duties:

? Support implementation of evidence based programs and processes for tiered support for student mental health

? Lead Violent Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA) Stage I meetings, as needed and as assigned by the District Leads for VTRA. Training to be provided, as required.

? Support exploration of evidence based Social Work services for elementary age students.

? Collaborate and lead team meetings

? Provide consultation to school teams and referrals for service

? Collaborate with Social Workers and School Support Counsellors (SSC) with student cases

? Provide direct feedback and oversight to SSC

? Respond to referrals from school staff pertaining to students encountering challenges with mental health and/or addictions - assessment and treatment services

? Provide direct counselling service to students utilizing such programs as Brief Intervention for School Clinicians

? Case Management and reporting

? Consult with teachers and other school staff, as well as student and parents

? Provide individual and/or group counselling as well as support to parents and families

? Support the implementation of the Mental Health Strategic Plan

? Liaise with community agencies

? Other duties as assigned; under the direction of Principal of Special Services and/or Mental Health Leader

? Travel throughout the Board’s jurisdiction required
