Northern Lights Public Schools invites applications for the following position:
S2324-92 Educational Assistant - Kikino School
We are seeking multiple full time (1.0 fte) and part time (0.50 fte) temporary positions commencing as soon as possible and for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year. These assignments involve assisting with student educational program needs including social skills, behaviour skills, self-help and personal care needs. These positions requires a compassionate and energetic individual to work in a team environment.
Kikino School is located on the Kikino Metis Settlement 40 km South of the Town of Lac La Biche withapproximately120students in grades ECS to 8. Kikino School is committed to delivering staff who are well-versedin quality instructional delivery that exists in a safe and caring environment with a focus on academic achievement and built on a foundation of holistic child development awareness.
Preference will be given to applicants who have :
Post-Secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant
Knowledge and experience with behavioral strategies
Experience working one-on-one and/or in group settings
Knowledge of documentation procedures and proficiency with computers
Knowledge and experience in alternate communication strategies
Experience assisting students with self-help and personal care needs
Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans
Training and skills that would be an asset include:
Relative experience in educational assistance, nursing and/or rehabilitation
SIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
