1. Literacy/Reading Lead
Scope of Responsibility
The Literacy Lead will work in classrooms with teachers and students supporting literacy initiatives to impact student achievement in literacy. He/she will provide leadership for professional development in the area of literacy especially the science of teaching reading. Working collaboratively with a team of education professionals, the Literacy Lead will demonstrate a strong commitment to student learning. The Literacy Lead reports to the Teacher Coach.
The Literacy Lead will have the following competencies:
The ability to effectively deliver the Ontario Language Arts curriculum
The ability to provide literacy support/coaching to students and teachers within the classroom
The ability to monitor, assess, evaluate, and report on student progress
The ability to provide leadership in the collection, analysis and interpretation of data related to student achievement
Qualifications
OCT certified
Knowledgeable about reading processes, assessment, and instruction
Training/experience or knowledge in Jolly Phonics considered an asset
2. Numeracy Lead
Scope of Responsibility
The Numeracy Lead will work in classrooms with teachers and students supporting literacy initiatives to impact student achievement in numeracy. He/she will provide leadership for professional development in the area of numeracy. Working collaboratively with a team of education professionals, the Numeracy Lead will demonstrate a strong commitment to learning. The incumbent reports to the Teacher Coach.
The Numeracy Lead willl have the following competencies:
The ability to effectively deliver the Ontario Math curriculum
The ability to provide numeracy support/coaching to students and teachers within classrooms
The ability to monitor, assess, evaluate and report on student progress
The ability to provide leadership in the collection, analysis and interpretation of data related to student achievement
Qualifications
OCT certified.
Knowledge of the development of mathematics concepts and skills
Experience with math curriculum and daily lesson planning will be considered an asset
3. Transition Lead
Scope of Responsibility
The Transition Lead will work with students and stakeholders in northern communities to make a smooth and successful transition to public high schools in nearby cities and town. In doing this the incumbent will develop and implement strategies and programs that are long lasting.
Qualifications
A degree in education or social work or equivalent
Familiar with Ontario education standards
Experience working with middle and high school students an asset
Ability to work independently
Ability to communicate with various population
