The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) is a dynamic Catholic school board committed to the delivery of quality educational programs and services from a Catholic faith perspective. DPCDSB, one of Ontario's largest school boards in Ontario, is comprised of approximately 73,000 students enrolled in 151 schools (125 elementary and 26 secondary) throughout the diverse GTA municipalities of Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon, and Orangeville. DPCDSB employs approximately 8,000 faculty and staff to deliver and support its Catholic educational mission.

General Manager, Information & Communication Technology

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the General Manager of Information and Communications Technology provides professional expertise, direction and guidance to the organization and manages the day-to-day technology operations of the Information and Communications Technology Department (including IT Infrastructure, Service Desk, IT Operations and Networks) in a large Catholic school board. The General Manager participates proactively with other members of the Boards Senior Management team in developing and executing strategic plans to optimize the use of the Boards resources in support of the educational and financial objectives of the Board. The General Manager is a team builder cognizant of the need to foster successful human relationships and community. The General Manager provides vision and leadership for developing and implementing policy initiatives that improve quality-of-service delivery to all employees and students. The General Manager participates in policy and decision-making at the senior management level regarding resource allocation, staffing, organizational development, and design.

Qualifications / Experience:

University degree in computer related field or related degree

Formal certification in project management (PMP or Agile PM) preferred.

A minimum of seven (7) years of demonstrated successful work experience in the field of enterprise technology, preferably in the Public Sector. This experience must include at least five (5) years of direct management and supervision of technology teams.

Other Qualifications / Additional Experience:

The General Manager supervises a staff of professionals who, in turn, manage unique organizational units. The General Manager is required to have a working knowledge of the issues affecting those diverse organizational units (Infrastructure, Support, IT Operations, Project Management).

Experience in developing technology policies, processes, and/or procedures.

Strong collaborative skills and a proven ability to manage and facilitate process reviews, workshops, or other similar group discovery and feedback methods.

Expertise in budget planning, financial management and workforce management.

knowledge of current and emerging technologies, technology directions, and strategic application to business needs, including the ability to differentiate between a relevant trend and hype.

to exercise considerable independent judgment, tact and sensitivity in understanding the needs of schools, instructional leaders, Senior Management, trustees, associations and Ministry.

Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize and successfully complete projects with

conflicting deadlines and urgency.
