Applications are invited “in anticipation” of Summer Learning Programs in the following communities:
Kenora
Dryden
Sioux Lookout
Red Lake
Summer Learning Program
The Elementary Summer Learning programs are open to students in grades Year 2 Kindergarten - Grade 4.
Summer Learning programs provide opportunities for students to increase achievement and build confidence. Achieved program outcomes will minimize summer learning loss and promote academic, social and emotional success.
Responsibilities
Education Assistants will collaborate with team members to plan, prepare and provide positive learning opportunities for all students that are inclusive, diverse and equitable.
Student Learning Assistants will need to be prepared to participate in virtual or in-person training and learning sessions around evidence-based Literacy practice and programs.
Education Assistant priorities include:
collaborating with team to plan, design and implement the program
providing and promoting culturally relevant materials and resources
supporting engaging, hands on, experiential learning opportunities
supporting learning opportunities that are inclusive and equitable for all students
supporting learning opportunities with awareness of Indigenous perspectives
working one-on-one or in small groups, with students
supporting student behaviour with a BMS and self-regulation approach
collecting evidence of student learning growth
delivery of evidence-based Literacy and numeracy programs
planning and providing literacy and numeracy learning activities throughout the day
communicating with Summer Learning Administrator Lead and team members
·other duties as required to meet the needs of the students and the program
Preferred Qualifications:
additional knowledge and/or qualifications in Behaviour Management Systems (BMS)
additional knowledge and/or qualifications in student self-regulation
additional knowledge and/or qualifications in the Zones of Regulation
additional knowledge of School Mental Health Ontario practices and Restorative Practice
