The Durham Catholic District School Board is located just east of Toronto and is renowned for providing comprehensive Catholic education to over 21, 150 students in 38 elementary schools, 7 secondary schools, and 6 continuing and alternative education centers throughout Durham Region.

Position - Psychologist/Psychological Associate (1.0 FTE ) Full Time, Permanent

Location - Student Services (assigned school locations), 650 Rossland Road West, Oshawa, ON, L1J 7C4

Rate Of Pay - As per Collective Agreement ($59,594-$108,781)

Working Hours - As per Collective Agreement, Note: Flexible Hours may be required due to nature of the position.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Psychologist/Psychological Associate works on a multi-diciplinary team under the administrative authorities of the Superintendent of Education-Student Services, the Senior Manager, Psychological and Speech Language Services/Chief Psychologist and the Superintendent of Education-Family of Schools. While in a school, the Psychologist/Psychological Associate is subject to the administrative authority of the Principal.

As a registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario, the Psychologist and Psychological Associate assumes full responsibility for the provision of psychological services.

The primary function of the Psychologist/Psychological Associate is to assis school personnel in meeting the needs fo the students through psychological assessment and consultation, and/or counselling/intervention.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides a proffessional opinion based on standardized measures, interviews and observations pertaining to a student's ability and learning style, and social-emotional functioning, including mental health.

Gathers information on student development and functioning and consults with other proffessionals.

Writes psychological assessment reports.

Interprets, shares results from psychological reports, and makes recommendations with school personnel and parent(s)/guardian(s).

Consults with school personnel regarding programming.

Participates in Identification, Placement and Review Committees (IPRC), School Team meetings and case conferences as requested.

Interprets psychological information received from outside agencies.

Prepares and presents in-services programs and workshops as requested.

Assists parent(s)/guardian(s) in accessing appropriate community resources.

Provides individual and or/or group counselling/intervention.

Participates in the Community Threat Assessment and Intervention Team (C-TAIT), as required.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Education, Senior Manager, Psychological and Speech Language Services/Chief Psychologist and the Superintendent of Education-Family of Schools.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

M.A. or PhD in Clinical/School/Educational Psychology.

Resistration with the Colloge of Psychologists of Ontario

Experience

Three (3) years' experience working as a Psychologist, Psychological Associate, or graduate-level practicum student/inern in a school board or pediatric setting.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Clean drivers abstract, valid drivers's licence and use of a vehicle on a consistent basis.
