Paid based on the salary grid of the Collective Agreement with OECTA according to QECO rating and years of experience.

Assignment:
Archbishop O'Sullivan Catholic School, Student Support Centre
1.0 FTE Special Education Resource Teacher
This Centre vacancy is currently assigned to Archbishop O'Sullivan Catholic School. If the Centre is moved to a different school or closed, then it would be expected that the Teacher assigned to the Centre would move with the program or would enter the Round transfer process.
Student Support Centre Special Education Resource teachers are responsible for providing a supportive learning environment and specialized programming to help students build self-regulation skills, social problem solving skills, and strategies to support academic learning. Students receive individualized programming designed according to the Individual Education Plan (IEP) expectations (and) which are continually adapted to meet evolving strengths and needs. Students spend a portion of the day in the SSC working on these elements of their program, while the balance of the day is spent in a regular classroom.
In accordance with the Letter of Understanding re: Central Positions - Right to Return, the Teacher who accepts a position in a Centre will have the right to return to the school location that the Teacher was assigned to immediately prior to accepting the position for up to five (5) years, subject to the surplus and redundancy provisions of the Collective Agreement.
In accordance with the Letter of Understanding re: System Level Teaching Positions, Hiring for system level programs including, the Student Support Centre all qualified applicants will be interviewed. Appointments to these positions will be at the discretion of the Board.
St. Thomas More Catholic School, Life Skills Development Centre
1.0 FTE Special Education Resource Teacher
This Centre vacancy is currently assigned to St. Thomas More Catholic School. If the Centre is moved to a different school or closed, then it would be expected that the Teacher assigned to the Centre would move with the program or would enter the Round transfer process.
Centre Special Education Resource teachers are responsible for providing a supportive and dynamic learning environment for students with developmental disabilities and complex needs in areas such as intellectual functioning, adaptive functioning, medically fragile and/or social/emotional needs. Students receive individualized programming designed according to the Individual Education Plan (IEP) expectations and which are continually adapted to meet life skills evolving strengths and needs. Students' programming typically includes combinations of Ontario curriculum and alternate students' curriculum expectations. Emphasis is placed on functional literacy, functional numeracy and life skills through classroom activities as well as school and community integration.

Qualifications:
- Certificate of Qualification from the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
- Primary/Junior or Junior/Intermediate Qualifications
- Special Education Specialist Qualifications
- 5 years of experience working with students with exceptional needs
- SERT experience strongly recommended

- Current Certificate of Qualifications from the Ontario College of Teachers
- Submission of (current within 1 year) OR a Roman Catholic Baptismal Certificate and a

- Recent graduates - include University transcript & practice teaching reports (copies only)
As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must provide a Criminal Background Check (CBC) with vulnerable sector screening current within six months of date of hire.
NOTES: This position open to Occasional Teachers currently employed by Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic District School Board who have completed a minimum of one (1) LTO assignment that was a minimum of four (4) months in duration, and whose last evaluation resulted in a satisfactory rating. In addition to the applicants from the school board's occasional teacher roster, a school board may choose, as one of the applicants to be interviewed, a teacher employed as a permanent teacher elsewhere in the province who has applied to the posting. Articles 17.6 and 17.7 of the Collective Agreement apply.
