The Working Leader, Recreation Facilities role is within the Alberta Hospital Edmonton’s (AHE) Patient Experience Recreation team. The Working Leader is a rewarding opportunity to support patients with patient engagement opportunities with Evening Recreation and site-based events. The Working Leader also supervises and supports the Activities Convenors within the team. AHE serves individuals that experience both mental health and addiction concerns in acute and rehabilitative models of care. As a member of the Patient Engagement program at AHE, the successful candidate will be responsible for independent program facilitation of a variety of diversional leisure-based activities, under the leadership of the Care Manager for Allied Health & Patient Experience. This role is recovery focused and requires strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. You will collaborate with volunteer services and community stakeholders in this position. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As a Working Leader Rec Facilities, you will direct all functions and activities of the Recreation Facilities Program, which includes the knowledge and maintenance of directives and procedures, products, and equipment in the program. Your role will include supervising, training, and evaluating Recreation Facilities staff. You will be required to organize time and work schedules/programs and ensure staff compliance with the program and Hospital policies, procedures, and regulations.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Valid Heart & Stroke Foundation BLS-HCP. Valid Emergency First Aid. Experience with individual and group program facilitation. Understanding and knowledge of recovery orientated care and rehabilitation models. This position is physically demanding and requires the successful candidate to be able to lift 30-40lbs, walk distances of up to 5 km and tolerate prolonged periods of standing.

Completion of diploma from a post-secondary program in a related health field or equivalent. A combination of experience and education may be considered. Demonstration of punctuality, dependability and attendance record verifiable by references.
