Reporting to the Patient Care Manager of Edmonton Anesthesia and Surgery Centralized Programming, the Unit Manager will lead the Anesthesia Care Team, the Hand and Wrist Assessment Clinic and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit relief team programs that play a critical role in surgical care delivery. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of perioperative services while empowering a highly skilled team dedicated to safe, high-quality patient care. As Unit Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence while supporting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will oversee the effective management of human, financial, and material resources, ensuring that services are delivered efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and care. This leadership role goes beyond day-to-day operations. You will champion innovation, support staff development, and help drive initiatives that enhance the patient experience and strengthen surgical services across the Edmonton Corridor.
A University Degree in a healthcare-related field, complemented by over five years of relevant management or leadership experience in a healthcare setting. Strong organizational and leadership abilities are essential, with a proven track record in decision-making, coaching, and mentoring. Demonstrated expertise in fostering confidence and empowering others to achieve their full potential in a clinical environment.
The ability to integrate and apply clinical excellence in the daily operations of the operative services program, ensuring optimal patient care and efficiency. Demonstrated capability to function effectively within a dynamic and evolving healthcare environment. Proven ability to assess program and activity effectiveness through measurable outcomes. A strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality, displaying initiative, and adapting to change. A focus on fostering professional growth and enhancing the effectiveness of personnel. Current and unrestricted registration with a health-related discipline (e.g., CARNA) is required, along with significant management and supervisory experience.
A Master’s degree in a health-related or business field. Proven excellence in leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with demonstrated experience in managing human, financial, and physical resources within a complex operational environment. Strong knowledge of and proficiency in operational and financial systems, including Connect Care, e-People, RMS, Outlook, MR, and Oracle. Extensive experience in conflict management and resolution.
