AHS has an exciting opportunity for an Acute Care Manager at the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre, with responsibility for the leadership of the teams providing care for two Acute Care Medical Units as well as management of these program areas. In this position you will support a dynamic healthcare team, and a diverse patient population. Your role includes responsibility for recruitment and performance management of human resources in a unionized environment. In this role, you will have accountability for the delivery of high quality, safe, accessible, sustainable, patient and family-centered care in your program area, and for delivering on our portfolio vision of Engaged, Supported, and Valued People. Your effective communication and change management skills, as well as your human resource and budget management skills are essential to being successful in this role. As part of the CenZ Acute Care leadership team, you will support and advance quality improvement, patient care, and staff engagement through strong working relationships, and in collaboration with colleagues, staff, community agencies, and zonal services. Your role includes responsibility for recruitment and performance management of human resources in a unionized environment. Reporting to the Director, Rural Acute Care, Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre, and in partnership with the other local managers, you will provide staff and program leadership through demonstrated consistency of practice, competence as a leader, as well as commitment to the team, and to the overall purpose and vision of the portfolio, and the organization.

A post-secondary degree in a health profession, health administration, leadership, or other comparable degree. Registration with an Alberta Regulated Health Profession, as appropriate. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional development (e.g., continuing education courses).

Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources within a complex environment. Strong organizational skills, client-focused orientation, and commitment to providing long-term quality services. Experience in collaborating with physicians and other health care professionals. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as demonstrated effective problem solving. Demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to foster relationships across the organization to further the effectiveness of both the site(s) managed and programs contained within. Knowledge and understanding of Collective Agreements and collaborating with a unionized workforce. Discretion with sensitive situations, data, and personnel. Ability to work hard, have fun & contribute to a dynamic, successful healthcare team.

Experience leading healthcare teams & providing innovative solutions to complex system issues. Proven coaching skills to support team members to reach their full potential. Experience in a leadership role, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Strong knowledge of Rural Acute Care an asset.
