The unit clerk is responsible for managing the flow of information and providing clerical support to the continuing care team. The unit clerk is primarily responsible for: Scheduling appointments, tests, therapies and consultations into electronic health records and other appropriate databases. Reception: serving as the first point of contact in matters concerning the efficient administration of the Unit. Communication of information: playing a key role in helping to foster a team environment on the Unit by facilitating communication between care teams, departments, residents, and families, and by maintaining confidentiality of patient information. Clerical support duties for the department. Maintains patient electronic charts. This position is a major asset to the smooth and efficient operations of the unit. Other responsibilities: completing projects under tight timelines and with frequent interruptions.

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
